About Karina

Karina is a strategist whose experience across industries—housing, healthcare and more—means she is particularly creative, boundary-breaking and human-centered.

She is known for living and working with intention, and has devoted her career to creating more equitable and vibrant communities, particularly for those most vulnerable.

In her career, Karina has transformed some of the most complex systems in the private and public sectors, from startups and small businesses to large government agencies and multinational corporations.

Most recently, Karina was Chief of Staff and head of Patient Experience for Thyme Care, a healthcare technology startup that supports cancer patients in navigating their disease journey. She designed an innovative, high-compassion, low-cost patient support model. In tandem, she helped build company culture through DEI business iniaitives, hybrid workplace norm creation and leadership retreat facilitation.

Prior, she led strategy--from planning, to implementation, through to revision--at North America's largest residential landlord, the NYC Housing Authority. There, she spearheaded massive operational restructurings in property management and improved audit and compliance functions. Earlier, Karina was a mission-based real estate developer at 21c Museum Hotels, a tax credit investor at Goldman Sachs' Urban Investment Group, and a master planning consultant at HR&A Advisors, Inc.

Since 2018, Karina has sung at the bedsides of hospice patients with the Threshold Choir and is a member of her synagogue’s bereavement support and burial committee. She currently serves as a Board Member of Shomer Collective and as an end-of-life doula with Capital Caring Health in Washington, DC. She was previously a doula with Mount Sinai Hospital’s Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine Department and Visiting Nurse Service, both in New York City.
