Jewish Death Doula of the Week

For the Jewish High Holidays in 2021, I attended a Yom Kippur service hosted by GatherDC. The Rabbi, Ilana Zeitman, created a group activity where we rehearsed our deaths. This was completely in line with the holiday, and a bold move for a group of a hundred 20- and 30-somethings.

Needless to say, I was eager to meet Rabbi Ilana in the weeks following and, after our first conversation, she asked to feature my work on systems change in their Gather DC blog.

In January 2022, I was named “Jewish Death Doula of the Week” (though I don’t think there were other doulas competing for this title!). The post was a great springboard for meeting more local DC changemakers in the end-of-life space.
